LPG today
Why is LPG a smart choice for business?
How LPG can help your business today

LPG emits fewer emissions than coal and diesel per gigajoule and is a reliable alternative for high-intensity heat applications.

LPG is stored under pressure with no risk of ground contamination from spillage and no waste management, such as ash disposal.

LPG has no risk of fuel degradation, a challenge for many businesses using diesel, particularly in applications where diesel is heated to extreme temperatures.

LPG that's useful
In remote areas where traditional energy sources such as electricity, natural gas or renewable energy is unavailable or limited, LPG is easily transported and a reliable energy source for many businesses Australia-wide.

LPG excels in high-temperature applications, such as boilers and on-site power generation.

Discussion around hydrogen and the comparison to LPG as a fuel source is difficult due to hydrogen's limited availability in Australia. Today, hydrogen is only available as part of pilot projects. However, if hydrogen becomes more readily available, road transportation costs, investment required for new equipment and accessibility will impact the uptake of hydrogen.

LPG eliminates the need for coal ash management and associated costly processes for those looking to transition away from coal combustion.

BioLPG and Origin
BioLPG, also called renewable propane, is propane produced from plant waste material. It is available in the US, Asia and Europe, however it is not yet available in Australia.

Origin is actively exploring multiple technologies for the production of bioLPG, focused on the co-production of bioLPG from Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

You can be confident that with Origin’s established shipping, transport operations and nation-wide terminals, once bioLPG is available in Australia we’ll be ready to supply a bioLPG blend Australia-wide.

Aviation Fuel
BioLPG from SAF

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is a growing fuel source for Australian aviation and is produced using biogenic and non-biogenic feedstocks and processes. BioLPG is a co-product of SAF, expected to be available for Australian businesses to use as a drop-in replacement for LPG. At Origin, we’re actively exploring multiple technologies to offer our customers a range of options.
